Now it is coming official! We are going to make some eurorack modules, but not ordinary ones. The exact specifications of the modules still remain a little secret. The engineering behind the modules which are coming soon into our production is influenced by the diploma project of our main researcher Václav Peloušek: Basic research in translating biological, mechanical and chemical principles into electronic musical instrument language and vice versa. This was done at Art & Science department of Univeversity of Applied Arts Vienna. Along with the prototypes of various translators across real world principles and modular synthesizer using CV to communicate, brief theoretical study was conducted. It can be downloaded as pdf brochure.
In cooperation with UK based artist Lazenbleep we made together nice hack for MIDI Bastl to read clock from Nanoloop, convert it to the clock for Korg Volca Beats. And as a bonus this clock gets converted into MIDI Clock, too! And as extrabonus for Gameboy lovers the MIDI Bastl is powered directly from Gameboy!
See nice video from Lazenbleep that show the power of this connection:
How to do that ?
You need to get MIDI Bastl of course. First you need to get the Attiny reprogrammed. Here is the code. Follow this tutorial to get the Attiny 85 programmed succesfully.
Than we used the stereo sync jack to act both as input and output for the clock. On the TIP of the jack is the output signal for the Volca. On the RING is the clock input (CLOCK PIN or also called SD PIN) from the Gameboy. To actually connect the RING to the desired function one solder jumper is necessary on the MIDI Bastl.

To have the MIDI Bastl powered directly from the Gameboy you need to get the + and – terminal on the MIDI Bastl connected to the gameboy + and – pin.
See this picture or this forum post for more information about Gameboy cable pinout:

Yeah so that`s it! If you have any problems of getting it work or have some suggestions for another sync madness post it in the forum!
We just made final tests of syncing almost any gear using the MIDI Bastl – it can convert MIDI Clock to almost any kind of known clock – clock for Korg Volca / Monotribe, Gameboy Nanoloop / LSDJ, DIN SYNC 24 or 48 !
So we synced the oldschool Roland 626 (MIDI Clock) with Korg KPR 77 (din sync 48) and Trinity DRUM (MIDI Clock)
We also made the nice sync video with 2 Korg Volca Bass
Enjoy!
