MIDI Bastl made it possible ! Gameboy Nanoloop synced with Korg Volca + how to
In cooperation with UK based artist Lazenbleep we made together nice hack for MIDI Bastl to read clock from Nanoloop, convert it to the clock for Korg Volca Beats. And as a bonus this clock gets converted into MIDI Clock, too! And as extrabonus for Gameboy lovers the MIDI Bastl is powered directly from Gameboy!
See nice video from Lazenbleep that show the power of this connection:
How to do that ?
You need to get MIDI Bastl of course. First you need to get the Attiny reprogrammed. Here is the code. Follow this tutorial to get the Attiny 85 programmed succesfully.
Than we used the stereo sync jack to act both as input and output for the clock. On the TIP of the jack is the output signal for the Volca. On the RING is the clock input (CLOCK PIN or also called SD PIN) from the Gameboy. To actually connect the RING to the desired function one solder jumper is necessary on the MIDI Bastl.

To have the MIDI Bastl powered directly from the Gameboy you need to get the + and – terminal on the MIDI Bastl connected to the gameboy + and – pin.
See this picture or this forum post for more information about Gameboy cable pinout:

Yeah so that`s it! If you have any problems of getting it work or have some suggestions for another sync madness post it in the forum!
